New Works/ Hanukkah MarketPlace

 

I don't know why I keep forgetting to post on this blog! Oh Well...I'm here now!

This is my table area at the MJCC (Portland Oregon). ORA has a Hanukkah MarketPlace event all week. In addition to my tallit clips, garden stakes, seder plates and quilted glass, I will be adding menorahs to the display starting this afternoon !

I'll post photos later this evening.

CELEBRATION OF ART 2019 this weekend!

I have been very quiet on this blog. Sorry about that!
It has been a very busy fall and somehow the time just slipped away.

CELEBRATION OF ART 2019 is this Saturday 7-9pm and Sunday 10am-4pm November 2-3at the MJCC 6651 SW Capitol Hwy Portland Oregon.

I have a new mask that will be revealed Saturday night!

This guy was known to sport neck and bow ties....and things were always "ducky" with him.

Here's a picture of me finishing off his little tie!  Come see him fully "dressed" at the show. He's pretty cute! You just might want to take him home with you!

Why I haven't been posting!

This is the less than glamorous side of being an artist!

In nice weather I like to work outside. Both saws use water, as does my polisher so I sometimes have to work outside regardless of the weather. When it is beautiful I also like to cut my glass out there.
         The deck is old! We had half of it replaced ...then we needed to stain it. The other half needed to be power washed, sanded and stained. That meant moving all my glass, tables, saws, polisher, etc to the other side of the deck. It also meant doing all the labor involved ....phew!
         I am back to glass work now and will post things coming out of the kiln soon!
         In the mean time...check out this preview video of an upcoming show I will be in....

Taste of Art/Celebration of Art

November 5-6 At the MJCC: 6651 SW Capitol Highway

ORA NW Jewish Artists is again presenting a fabulous show and sale!

Saturday evening 7:00-9:00 we will feature a live band, gin and beer sampling and some tasty treats. Over 20 artists will be available to sell you art.

Sunday the doors will open at 10:30 am. More live music and lots of beautiful art work to enjoy and purchase.

I have new artwork....stop by and see me! Lots and lots of glass!!!!

TRUNK SALE THIS SUNDAY!

I don't have a cool antique vehicle but I will load up my Honda Odyssey with my glass and set up to sell out of it at the MJCC parking lot this Sunday.

Art Trunk Sale....August 3

I'll be there....will you?

OK, I don't have a cool truck but I will have a van full of glass items at great prices. There will be some functional art pieces, some jewelry, and random "stuff" left over from earlier sales. Come see me!

Glass and Wood!

This is my adventure into combining glass and wood. I'm pretty happy with the results.

I have always been bothered by the incredible waste when I cut glass and have pieces left over that aren't necessarily large enough to use. Glass is expensive, and when I weigh my scraps, I see just how much money I am losing every day!

We're doing some home renovations, so I am also discovering hunks of lumber going to waste.  

So yes, I am dumpster diving...in my own dumpster...retrieving wood scraps. I am excited, energized, and ready to explore this new combination! Some of the wood will become part of my art...and some of the wood will keep me warm this winter!

I only had time to make this one wood/glass combo for the art show this Sunday...but after that, I am going to dedicate some time to my new projects. I have plenty of other new art as well.

Most exciting about all of this is the opportunity to listen to the movement of the glass and the wood. The interplay between the two, the selection of stain, the choices for how else to blend these elements.... the possibilities are simply tantalizing!

Clips in the kiln

Just getting ready for the Celebration of Art '13.

Looking for a great and unique Bar or Bat Mitzvah gift?
These are some of the new Tallit clips just going into the kiln. After firing, they will will polished to achieve clean edges....they'll then have a 24 hour date with some glue and clips...and then I'll add some nice chains. The Torah shaped clips are quite sparkly featuring dichroic glass. 

The next batch will include magen davids, chamsahs, and pomegranates. My stock has been depleted...I'm looking forward to offering new and unique clips at the COA!

SNEAK PREVIEW

Here's a close up of a corner of a future round server. Copper mesh is sandwiched between two perfect circles. You'll just have to wait to see the rest of the dish when it's finished!

It will be one of several pieces of glass on display in the lobby show at the MJCC (6651 SW Capitol Hwy) - May 19th - 24.
